Say One For Me

Last year you may remember the “say one for me” campaign.  People were encouraged to put a poster in a local venue and collect prayers from the people in our towns and cities.  These would then form part of the intercessions in our churches during lent.  Well it’s back and this time there is a website and a facebook group.

I guess I’d better put a poster in the coffee shop 😉

Worship Idea – I Don’t Belong Here

It was you who formed my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; that I know very well.

My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth.

Your eyes beheld my unformed substance. In your book were written all the days that were formed for me, when none of them as yet existed.

Psalm 139

Some of my photography friends have been discussing this type of filmography and we’re exploring the possibility of having a go at it with real people.  This video was used as an example of how powerful it can be as an art form.  Needless to say, it speaks very powerfully about issues of body image, our relationship to others and our self-worth.

Worship Idea – Dad, it’s me…

As our saviour taught us, so we pray…

Sorry that I didn’t post this when I spotted it on TV last year.  I’ve used this a few times in different worship contexts.  I showed it to some priests this afternoon at chapter and realised I’d not blogged it before.  Mea culpa.

Worship Idea – 7 Billion Video

I just had this video link sent to me.  I am staggered.

Thanks to @madeupstats for the occasional real one.

Worship Idea – Christmas in a Nutshell

A fantastic video I’ll be showing at Midnight Mass in a few hours time.

The Invisible Church – Hallelujah!

Many sources are keen to point out that “Christians are being marginalised” within society.  As I said in a recent blog people have become increasingly disconnected from their neighbours, their tangible, real world communities.  This can result in a sense of spiritual isolation and of being the only follower of the way present in each daily encounter you have.  This in itself fosters and reinforces the feeling of marginalisation and as some have [wrongly] said, persecution.

I suspect that this shift in society has resulted in us missing the reality around us as we are disconnected from it:

Alternative Hymnal – “Every Day” Ten Second Epic

You said, there’s no way the days should feel this short,
As soon as one ends, the other starts.
You said, all day I feel you playing a part,
When all you ever want to do was leave a mark.

Every day, Another one wasted.
Every day, You get up and face it.
Every day, is a chance for redemption.
Every day, Every day.

You said, Time moves fast but you’re still staying in park.
As every chance takes off… you don’t depart
But it’s just the defense for all the moments that name and define what we do.
Well how about you? We’re all scared of breaking through.

Every day, Another one wasted.
Every day, You get up and face it.
Every day, is a chance for redemption.
Every day, Every day.

Every day, Another one wasted.
Every day, You get up and face it.
Every day, is a chance for redemption.
Every day, Every day.

There’s gotta be that something more
That gets me through the night.(Gets me through the night)
I’m out of touch, It’s obvious.(It’s obvious)
I’m out of place and over this.(Over this)
There’s gotta be that change
That takes my path from wrong to right.(So…)

You said life is way to short,
As soon as one ends, another starts

Every day, Another one wasted.
Every day, You get up and face it.
Every day, is a chance for redemption.
Every day, Every day.

Every day, Another one wasted.
Every day, You get up and face it.
Every day, is a chance for redemption.
Every day, a chance for redemption
Every day, a chance for redemption
Every day, a chance for redemption
Every day, a chance for redemption
Everyday, Everyday.

Worship Idea – The Prodigal Son

The good news is that I have nearly cleared my email inbox.  The bad news is that I made a note of this video resource when I stumbled upon it on the 9th of July and have only just got around to posting it.  Sorry.

Alternative Hymnal – What Do You Got?

I recently blogged asking ‘Is God love’?  I had read an article challenging the church for not embodying the nature of the God of Love.  So I was intrigued by Bon Jovi’s new video and asked the question, what happens if we sing this in an act of worship?  I wonder if there are more inspirational images that could be put with this soundtrack.

“God is not good, he is goodness. He is not loving, he is love. Defy my definitions, God. Mould my meaning to your majesty” (@twitturgies this morning)

Bon Jovi – What Do You Got? Lyrics

Everybody wants something, just a little more
We’re makin a living, and what we’re livin for
A rich man or a poor man, a pawn or a king
You can live on the street, you can rule the whole world
But you don’t mean one damn thing

[Chorus:]
What do you got, if you ain’t got love
Whatever you got, it just ain’t enough
You’re walkin’ the road, but you’re goin’ nowhere
You’re tryin’ to find your way home, but there’s no one there
Who do you hold, in the dark of night
You wanna give up, but it’s worth the fight
You have all the things, that you’ve been dreamin’ of

If you ain’t got someone, you’re afraid to lose
Everybody needs just one, someone… to tell them the truth
Maybe I’m a dreamer, but I still believe
I believe in hope, I believe the change can get us off our knees

[Chorus]

If you ain’t got love, it’s all just keeping score
If you ain’t got love, what the hell we doing it for

I don’t wanna have to talk about it
How many songs you gotta sing about it
How long you gonna live without it
Why does someone somewhere have to doubt it
Someday you’ll figure it out

[Chorus]

If you ain’t got love, it’s all just keeping score
If you ain’t got love, what the hell we doin’ it for
Woah, I ain’t got, if you ain’t got
What do you got if you ain’t got love
What do you got if you ain’t got love

Eucharistic Wallpaper

This is going to sound a bit weird but I was just searching for a medieval depiction of the Eucharist.  I didn’t find it but I did find something cool.  This picture of the host being elevated is from Life Teen, a youth resource for Roman Catholics.  I like it – and will probably try to use it this week.
