God is Love

Please allow me a moment of self-indulgence. I was a small boy when Bill and Ted hit the big screens and I didn’t register the film until I was about 18. But for a couple of moments whilst looking at songs that speak of God for the Rock Mass, this is where it’s at! This liminal moment will pass and I will return to my attempts at relevancy with talk of things that were produced within the 22 years since this was made. Here and now, God is speaking to me through Bill and Ted and that paraphrase of the second greatest commandment: Be Excellent to Each Other.

Robbie Robb, In Time
No fear, no loss, no tears,
The time is almost here.
Our dreams will all come true, I promise you,
‘Cause I can see for miles and miles.
In time we’ll be dancing in the streets all night (all night, all night).
In time, yes, everything will be all right (all right, all right).
It’ll take time but we’re going far,
You and me, yes I know we are.
In time we’ll be dancing in the streets all night.
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah.
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah.
In time we’ll be dancing in the streets all night.
All night.
One heart, one soul, one mind,
Our eyes will not be blind.
We’ll see this rain come down without this sound,
We can all, we can all break free.
In time we’ll be dancing in the streets all night (all night, all night).
In time, yes, everything will be all right (all right, all right).
It’ll take time but we’re going far,
You and me, yes I know we are,
In time we’ll be dancing in the streets all night.
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah.
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah.
In time . . .
In time we’ll be dancing in the streets all night….
If only I had been a follower of the way in the 80’s. I could have been relevant (and a tiny boy).

  1. Great blast from the past – I wonder did any youth leader at the time do an sermon or epilogue called Be Excellent to Each other?

  2. The 80s utterly rocked the universe. 🙂
