There is Nothing British about the BNP

The elections are looming.  Church Mouse has posted a blog about the BNP.

I’m not sure how I feel about this video response to the BNP but it does highlight the issue in quite an uncomfortable way.

Don’t let the BNP try to claim Jesus as one of their own.  It is time to stand up and be counted!  Get out and vote and use your cross wisely!

  1. The BNP are abysmal, I agree, and I’d like nothing more than for them all to sod off. However, what is very British is the concepts of free speech, freedom of association and the right to hold one’s own views. My worry is that, by trying to come down aggressively against the BNP – and indeed all bigotted extremists – we risk making martyrs of them and their cause…

  2. They are certainly getting more sophisticated in recent years and the current Telegraph disclosures will be helping them. My memory of Derek beacon – Millwall BNP councillor ca 1994/95 – is that the publicity they were given very effectively showed them up for what they really are.

  3. Grace – I don’t think that anyone has really come down aggressively against the BNP. Certainly not in the CofE. We have asserted that we are not associated with them and that their racist views are in opposition to the teachings of Jesus.

On the Money – The last political week has been abysmal. When main party politicians are saying “don’t vote for the main parties” it plays straight into the hands of UKIP and the BNP.

  4. As far as I understand it, the BNP are not saying they want to deport anyone except illegal immigrants.

What they do want to do is to bribe non-white British citizens to go “home” at £50K a head.

I can almost imagine a BNP surge in non-white voters who might think it would be very nice to be part of the brain drain leaving the Britain of 50% tax with £50K …

I can even imagine some whites thinking of blacking up in order to claim this resettlement grant.

  5. Erm…. Interesting ideas.
