Hot Leg – I’ve Met Jesus

For those of you who can relate to the critique that sometimes we don’t live up to the perfect standards of Jesus, Hot Leg’s single is available for pre order.  I suspect that if it makes it into the charts it may well be the start of many a conversation over the coming months!

You’re a bigot, you’re a bore with a fundamental flaw

-Justin David Hawkins

Popular Angelology

Fern Britton has just been on my TV talking about her belief in Angels with no reference to God whatsoever.

How does that work?  Who are they a messenger from?  What are they?  How should we respond to this popular angelology?  Answers on a postcard to the usual address.

Make do and Mend

Less than 12 hrs after posting about Do the Green Thing, BBC news is telling me about how Grannies are going into school to show children how to “Make do and Mend” as a way of being All Consuming.  Apparantly there is a load of stuff on youtube too but I haven’t had time to look.

Green Thing

“Do The Green Thing” is making its way through the month by producing a video from the comedienne Josie Long who is using everything she has!!

I’ve Met Jesus

How very astute, making most of the same criticisms as those within the emerging church.

“If Jesus was a bouncer he’d never let you in”. Oh the irony.

Sanctus 1 Pocket Liturgies

One of the more well know emerging churches in the North of England is Sanctus1, a community in Manchester.  Proost have recently published a collection of their liturgies.

Songs of Praise

This raised a little titter…

I’ve Met Jesus

Just got home from the Extreme gig in Leeds.  Hot Leg were the support and they rocked!!  For those of you who don’t know, Hot Leg are Justin Hawkins new band.  I blogged about the track “I’ve Met Jesus” about a year and a half ago.  However, it disapeared pretty quick smart.  Now we are reliably informed (well, enthusiastically from the stage – does that count as “reliably”?) that it is to be a Christmas Single!

Bring it on.  Great tune and a song I can empathise with!!

Fresh Expressions Get Fresh Backing

For those of you who don’t know what “Fresh Expressions” are, they are the way in which the Church of England and the Methodist Church have joined forces to proliferate the emerging church movement within their respective denominations.  Since the publication of Mission Shaped Church Fresh Expressions have been part of what Dr Rowan Williams described as the “mixed economy church” in which both the traditional and the innovative would be valued.

The most recent mailing from Fresh Expressions states that they have been given further backing to continue the project beyond the initial five years and into another five years.  Yay!!
